Here are some reminders of things to do when returning from a trip. See the companion list for things to do before leaving for a trip.
House trip checklist upon return:
1. Retrieve mail from mailbox, neighbors, and/or post office.
2. Adjust thermostat.
3. Return Water Heater to non-Vacation (normal) setting.
4. Reengage Water Softener (cycle manual backwash if necessary).
5. Retrieve pets that have been boarded out.
6. Clean fridge of anything that spoiled while away.
7. Retrieve key from neighbor or housesitter.
8. Check Messages, faxes, and email, and return calls
9. Wash laundry from trip.
10. Water plants
11. Turn water back on -- main house supply, supply to washing machine, supply to outside hose bibbs.
12. Check basement for flooding.
13. Empty the dehumidifier reservoir
14. Mow/water the lawn
